Padstow Museum

Padstow Museum is on the first floor above the town's library. Housed in the Men's Institute building just behind the harbour the museum displays a variety of objects, paintings and photographs illustrating the history of this delightful fishing port. Padstow is famous for its may Day celebration of the 'Obby 'Oss. In the museum is exhibited the Blue 'Obby 'Oss mask and skirt. An audio visual presentation tells the visitor the story of this ancient custom. A new display using models, photographs, paintings and objects illustrates the heroism of the men of Padstow who, since the 19th century have set out in the local lifeboat to rescue shipwrecked sailors from the stormy seas.
