WATERSPORTS IN NORTH CORNWALL. Surfing
North
Cornwall's secluded coves, sandy beaches and breathtaking cliffs provide a
dramatic backdrop for watersports on the apron of the Atlantic. And it's easy
to tap into the thrills: just check the tide, follow the lifeguards' advice,
choose from boogie-boards to surf skis and splash your way into the centre
of the action. If you've never had a crack at surfing, you've come to the
right place.
The wide expanse of golden sand at PoIzeath offers the perfect starting point to conquer the Atlantic rollers, with tuition and board hire on hand. There are surf schools and equipment for hire at Bude, Constantine and Harlyn Bay too.
But
England's premier Atlantic coastline is not the only way to get closer to
the water in North Cornwall. You'll find fine fishing, sheltered sailing and
wonderful windsurfing at the Tamar Lakes and, on the Bude Canal, relaxing
rowing.
On the Camel Estuary you can really push the boat out in style, choosing from dinghy sailing, windsurfing or even water-skiing. Anglers fall in love with North Cornwall hook, line and sinker.
Not surprising really, when there's no close season in Cornwall and you can choose from rock and beach fishing, river game on the Camel, or stillwater trout at Crowdy Reservoir and Colliford Lake.
Sea fishing trips cast off from Boscastle, Padstow, Rock and Port Isaac, where you can experience the thrill of pulling into a Cornish harbour with fresh mackerel for your supper.
