North Cornwall - All year round

AttractionsMake tracks for the Bodmin and Wenford Railway and you might be starring in a Murder Mystery - there are Beer and Pasty Specials too! If that gives you a taste for something special, then pop into the Camel Valley Vineyard, Nanstallon. After a winery tour, relax on the terrace with a glass of celebrated Cornish Triomphe.

History is on trial at Bodmin's Shire Hall, where you can act as juror in the courtroom ordeal of Matthew Weekes, accused of the 1844 moorland murder of his girlfriend Charlotte Dymond. You can delve deeper into the past in the district's many museums at Padstow, Camelford, Bodmin, Launceston and Bude.

Come to North Cornwall in June, and the Royal Cornwall Show guarantees an eventful holiday. But there's something going on every month of the year, from winter pantomimes to summer street theatre, from pagan spring festivals to autumn harvest suppers.

If the sea's having one of its angry days, then head for one of the many sport and leisure centres. The tropical pool at Bude's Splash centre enjoys an indoor summer all year round, and there are pools at Bodmin, Launceston, Camelford and Wadebridge. And if the family still need entertaining, then let the animals do the work at Killarney Springs or the Tamar Otter Sanctuary. You can sit back with a cuppa while the children make friends with the furry ones.
